A few specific fixes for salcombecoffeecompany.com
Salcombe Coffee Company · 73 Fore Street, Salcombe · website rebuild
I rebuild small-business websites in my spare time when I can see they are leaving conversions on the table. I spent half an hour on salcombecoffeecompany.com this week and three things stood out on a phone, all fixable without changing what Leander and the family team are already doing on Fore Street.
Three findings below, then a working rebuild you can click through and judge.
A footer copyright of 2021 sits next to a current hiring notice.
The live homepage carries an active call for kitchen and front-of-house staff, which only a trading restaurant would post. Below it, the footer reads © 2021. A holidaymaker comparing Salcombe bistros for a Tuesday-evening booking will notice the gap. The Wix template freezes the year at the last template edit, not at the year the site is being read.
The rebuild renders the year from the current date, so the footer is right every January without anyone editing the site, and the hiring notice and the rest of the page sit in the same year.
Footer year · rendered, not hard-coded · current on every page loadThe evening bistro hours are hidden behind a phone call.
The daytime band of 09:30 to 16:30 is on the page, but the evening service asks visitors to call 01548 842319 to find out when the bistro is open. A family scrolling on a phone at 6pm, deciding between two Salcombe dinners, will pick the one that shows a kitchen time on screen. The phone is the right channel for a booking, but it is not the right channel for opening hours.
The rebuild gives the evening bistro its own anchored block on the home page with the kitchen hours, a real Google Maps embed, and a Tuesday-to- Saturday evening band stated in the same place as the breakfast hours.
Evening hours · on the page · not behind a phone callA 23-year independent uses an outlook.com inbox for public contact.
The contact address on the site is salcombecoffee73@outlook.com. For a two-decade-trading licensed bistro at a Fore Street address, a branded hello@salcombecoffeecompany.com inbox does the same job and reads as a settled business rather than a personal Outlook account. Booking emails, supplier emails and press emails all land in the same name as the door.
The rebuild keeps the existing inbox forwarding while routing a branded address through the same place. No re-training of anyone behind the counter, just an envelope on the door that reads salcombecoffeecompany.com.
Inbox · branded on the domain · existing replies untouched£2,000 Fixed for the rebuild, one-off. £150 Per month for hosting and ongoing care. £50 Optional. Embedded chatbot trained on FAQs.
No retainer. No contract. No in-person visits, fully remote from Switzerland.
- • One round of revisions before launch.
- • DNS cutover handled. You keep the domain in your name.
- • 30 days of post-launch tweaks at no extra cost.
- • Source code handed over on day 60. You own everything.
If the proposal lands, reply with two or three 20-minute slots in the next ten days for a video call. I take on three Devon builds this quarter, and first confirmed wins the slot. If I don't hear back by 28 May, the proposal site comes down.
